Of Cabbages n Kings

Something I wrote a long long time back… my attempt at sad poetry! (or whatever you call it)…. Dedicated to…. well, no one!! :P

I close my eyes and I see a time,
When I said to myself that you were mine; 
Hands in mine like eternal bliss,
You made me fly with the purest kiss;
Now you look in his eyes as he holds your hand,
While I think of you from a distant land;
My feelings still soar like those kites above,
Looking down from there with the purest love;
I look to my right but you’re not there,
And then, I shed a lonely tear.

Driving to work under vanilla skies,
I look in the mirror and I see your eyes;                 
your voice comes back as whispers to my ears,
‘when you hold me close, I’ve nothing to fear’;
The wind which blows brings me your scent,
Your hair on my face and close moments we spent;
Our eyes in eyes and hearts in hearts,
A promise made by souls to never part;
I open my eyes and I can’t find you near,
And then, I shed a lonely tear.

It’s the middle of the day and I’m lying still,
Miss me the same? I know you will;
Every second awake and every second asleep,
I have with you uncountable memories to keep;
‘They’ may tell you to forget but I know for sure,
It’s beyond your control when it’s feelings so pure;
When he holds your hand it’s a touch of skins,
Our hearts still touch, a million feelings within;
I look at your picture with my feelings clear,
And then, I shed a lonely tear.

When ill gotten slumber befalls on me,
I think of you and what made us ‘we’;
I look out for stars and there comes a smile,
For you’re looking at them too despite our miles;
How close we are and how we’ve made ourselves one,
Partners in arms, our love comparable to none;
And I reach my arms to hold you tight,
Cause I miss you the most in this hour of night;
It’s then I realize that you’ll never be here,
And then, I shed a lonely tear.
